How to Prep Your Vehicle for Window Tint
What to do the night before a tint appointment so the film lays clean and you are not sitting around while we vacuum Goldfish out of the door panel.
Tint is a wet install on glass. Dirt, stickers, and a trashed interior slow the job down and show up later as specks in the film. You do not need a show-car detail. You do need a vehicle we can actually work.
The night before
- Empty the doors. Water bottles, hats, and tools in the door pocket get in the way when we drop the glass.
- Clear the dash and rear deck. Papers on the back window mean we are moving your stuff, not cutting film.
- Tell us about existing tint. A remover is a different quote and a different clock. Old film that is baked on takes time.
- Skip rain-repellent glass coatings on the windows we are tinting. Those products fight the adhesive. If you already have them, say so.
A regular wash is enough. We still clean the glass ourselves. You are saving time, not doing our job.
What we need from you
- Make, model, year, and which package you want (fronts, rear, or full vehicle)
- Shade and film (Vintage Carbon, FXtreme2, or FX Plus)
- Cracks, chips, or aftermarket electronics in the glass (alarms, antennas, defroster issues)
- The shade and film you want, so we can talk through the look and the quote before we start
If you are bringing a tractor, sprayer, or Gator, photos of the cab help. Those jobs are not a sedan pattern.
Day of the appointment
Park where we tell you. We need room to open doors. Kids and dogs stay out of the bay. Plan to leave the vehicle. Rolling a window down to “check the air” mid-cure is how you crease a fresh edge.
Bring a second set of keys if you can. We may need to lock and unlock while film is setting.
After you leave
Keep the windows up for a few days. Haze or small water pockets while it dries are normal. Do not take a razor to them. Read tint aftercare before you wash the inside of the glass.
