Window Tint Aftercare

The film is on. The job is not “done” until the adhesive finishes drying. That cure is why we send people out with a short list instead of a handshake and a hope.

Keep the windows up

Leave every tinted window closed for at least three days. In cold or humid weather, give it closer to a week. Rolling a window into the door panel while the edges are still wet can tuck the film and leave a crease we then have to redo.

If you must crack a window in a heat wave, wait as long as you can and only drop it a half inch. Do not run it all the way down.

The haze is water, not a defect

New film often looks cloudy or has tiny water pockets. That is mounting solution working out through the film. It clears as the adhesive sets. Do not poke it with a fingernail or a credit card. Heat from the sun and the defroster (once we say it is safe) speeds it up. Parking in a garage in January slows it down.

If a pocket is still sitting there after two weeks, call us. That is a shop problem, not a “wait longer” problem.

How to clean it

Once the cure window is over:

• Use a soft cloth or sponge
• Use a non-ammonia cleaner (ammonia is hard on dyed and carbon films)
• Wipe, do not scrape

Skip abrasive pads, magic erasers, and dry paper towels that grind grit into the scratch-resistant coating.

What the warranty covers

Solar FX film we install carries a premium lifetime warranty against bubbling, peeling, and excessive color change. It does not cover:

• Creases from rolling windows too soon
• Cuts from someone else’s scraper
• Accidents, rock chips, or glass that was already cracked
• Film someone else installed

If something looks wrong, bring it back. It is easier to look at than to argue over a photo.

Farm cabs and shop glass

Same rules: do not work the glass until it is dry. Cab doors that get slammed all day in harvest need that edge time. If we tinted a storefront or a glass garage door, leave the film alone until we say you can wash it.
